COCA-COLA EUROPACIC PARTNERS FIELDWORK RESEARCH CASE STUDY

Quick Service Restaurant

Fieldwork ReseaRch Case Study

“As usual, S2 offered a highly professional and effective service for our consumer research project. Their collaborative approach ensured that the research was scoped effectively to ensure our objectives were met”

Andy Bowden, Senior Manager Coke Freestyle.

Brief

Coca-Cola European Partners (CCEP) commissioned S2 to undertake research into the emergence of quick service restaurants across the continent and in the UK.  The objective of the exercise was to understand and predict the commercial opportunity for Freestyle equipment within the UK. A new entrant to the UK marketplace or one which is already here but growly rapidly, represented an excellent prospect for Coke Freestyle.

Action

S2 undertook desk research to assess and analyse the QSR marketplace gathering insight into prospective opportunities for Freestyle. The research considered several key variables such as the speed at which a brand was growing, company turnover and number of employees etc. Other facts collected include brand growth aspirations, recent news, food and drink offering, funding and parent company detail where available.

Our research has also centred on whether the Freestyle equipment was appropriate for the QSR brands mentioned in the final report. For example, dependent on equipment model type, would the refill option work within the overall traffic flow of the restaurant?

Result

S2 produced a comprehensive research report around both established and emerging QSR’s which would offer a viable prospective opportunity for the Freestyle Machine. CCEP has used this report to help drive NBD strategy over the last few years.
